Dave graduated from Yale University (where he played football and captained the track team) in 1984. After spending sixteen years trading futures and options on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, a military move, an industry-wide shift away from pit trading, and a visit to an animal shelter prompted him to pursue a career as a veterinarian. Dave earned his DVM from the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. Dave was introduced to Dr. Baker and Wildcat Valley Animal Clinic by one of her technicians and was impressed by the staff’s commitment to bringing quality veterinary care to pets and owners of all income levels as well as the amount of shelter and rescue work they did. He worked at Wildcat Valley part-time for several months before joining Dr. Baker full-time in April 2011. Dave’s primary interest is shelter medicine but he is learning as much about all aspects of basic care that he can. Dave’s wife, Courtenay, is a Commander in the United States Navy. They live in West Lafayette with an ever-changing number of permanent and foster dogs. Dave’s outside interests include playing the guitar and aviation.
